Job Description

The Wiz Kids Foundation is seeking enthusiastic teachers to provide instruction to students entering grades 1st through 8th. We are seeking teachers with a positive attitude and enthusiasm for participating in a positive, upbeat, and challenging summer program.

• Work with the instructional design team to execute engaging lessons tailored for students in a makerspace setting.
• Collaborate with the makerspace design team to integrate technology, crafting, and design aspects into projects.
• Create an inclusive and supportive environment where students can explore and express their creativity.
• Guide students through the design process, encouraging them to use various materials and tools available in the makerspace to bring their ideas to life.
• Lead and supervise students during hands-on activities, ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
• Document and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
• Execute project based assessments and outcome based directives.
• Present subject matter to students using best practices.
• Teach rules of conduct and maintain order in the classroom.
• Counsel pupils when adjustment and academic problems arise.
• Discuss student's academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with parents.
• Keep attendance as required by the camp.
• Assume responsibility for the care of materials, equipment and facilities.
• Assume responsibility for a neat, safe environment for students and be committed to their care.
• Function as a substitute instructor for other Wiz Kids academic roles.
• Practice and promote positive interaction with and among students.
• Manage students when scheduled to attend field trips and/or campus tours.
• Encourage self-direction and self-motivation in students.
• Utilize a variety of appropriate materials and hands-on resources to instruct students in various content areas.
• Willingness to comply with suspected child abuse reporting (Subsection (a)(6) of

325 ILCS 5-4).

• Additional duties as contracted.

Content Teaching Areas

Coding, Creative Writing, Culinary Arts, Dance, Drama, ELA/Math, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy, Forensics, Music, Photography, Spanish, and Visual Arts in a Maker Space Paradigm.
