Position Overview

Riverside Research’s Secure and Resilient Systems group is seeking a dynamic full-time summer intern in Beavercreek Ohio. As a key member of our Secure and Resilient Systems team, the intern will contribute to our Internal Research and Development (IR&D) program and transition our technologies to the warfighter. The intern will interface with team members across Riverside Research locations.

The intern will create and contribute to technologies that demonstrate our secure parsing abilities in a physical medium. More specifically, they will join a team focused on creating a bold technical demo for our warfighter cyberspace tooling to show to partners in the DoD. This will likely include physical work with microcontrollers, robotics, cameras, drones, and/or motors to create a compelling physical display of our technologies. They will gain exposure to many domains of DoD research including language theoretic security, protocol design, effective demonstrations, and resilient system design.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ideate, construct, and maintain a compelling physical demonstration of previously developed cybersecurity technologies
  • Work closely with a variety of systems ranging from Raspberry PIs to radio frequency modules to cyber hacking hardware
  • Build tools and/or capabilities in languages like C/C++, Python, etc.
  • Explore the tenets of language theoretic security, and the tools associated with it
  • Assist in creating innovative security solutions to secure parsing challenges
  • Collaborate with team members on debugging programs, designing systems, reviewing papers, etc.
  • Participate in relevant internal meetings

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Excited to explore the fields of computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, cybersecurity, or related field of study
  • Some familiarity with programming languages
  • Self-driven with strong analytic, inferencing, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills
  • Must be a rising high school senior or rising college freshman
  • Must be a US citizen

Desired Qualifications

  • Some experience in C/C++ and/or Python
  • Some experience with Linux development environments
  • Desire to be exposed to the following domains: security software engineering and/or general software engineering
  • Desire to learn technical skills alongside how the business operates
  • Ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff and peers in the group and across Riverside Research
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Global Comp

$12 hr - $15 hr This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
