About the Role:

Ferrero, located in Louisville, KY, is looking for an experienced Supervisor to lead the sanitation department. The individual ensures that technical cleaning and sanitation programs are effectively implemented, validated, and maintained to ensure that all products are manufactured in a sanitary environment. This includes assessment of the cleaning and sanitation of the processing and supporting equipment. Comprehensive cleaning and sanitization procedures (SSOP) that includes the cleaning and sanitization of all equipment, and surfaces that come into contact with food. Proper cleaning and sanitization procedures are crucial to preventing the contamination of food products in a manufacturing plant. By maintaining a clean and hygienic environment, food manufacturers can improve the quality and safety of their products, reduce the risk of foodborne illness outbreaks, and ensure compliance with food safety regulations and standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop together with the Sanitation Manager the procedure for each equipment

  • Shall provide a comprehensive description of all cleaning and sanitization steps to be performed, in accordance with the cleaning and sanitization methods applied.

  • Ensures compliance with all food safety policies and procedures. Ensures plant is in proper sanitary condition at all times, including allergen control and pest control

  • Evaluates facility sanitary conditions visually and analytically, assesses risk based on food safety and public health principles and prioritizes corrective actions

  • Troubleshoots persistent sanitation issues to identify deficiencies in sanitation program or facility / equipment design

  • Maintains and updates master cleaning schedule for plant according to GMP and Ferrero guidelines

  • Conducts clean up inspections and verification /validations of sanitation and allergen cleanings using swabs and/or samples collected for analysis

  • Routinely interfaces with vendors for cost savings and arranging special services in plant - pesticide applications, contracted cleaning and painting, new dust collection filter technologies

  • Assigns and monitors plant wide sanitation areas of responsibilities to hourly employees

Who we are looking for:

  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment

  • Current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis, and Risk-Based

  • Preventive Controls for Human Food

  • Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)

  • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) regulation

  • Knowledge Cleaning and Sanitization, Sanitization preventive control

  • Knowledge of Hygienic Design

  • Educational background in Food Safety/Microbiology/Food Science or related field is an asset

  • Knowledge of Ferrero Quality and Food Safety processes

  • Food borne pathogens

  • Verification and validation methods

  • US food laws and international regulations

  • COP and CIP operations

  • Wet and dry-cleaning methodologies

  • Internal auditing experience is an asset

  • Ability to conduct presentations and training sessions

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others

  • Strong communication skills in a multi-cultural environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Experience with SAP, UKG/Kronos and Kleanz
