Job Title: Licensed Insurance Agent
Location: Metro Detroit Area, Michigan
Job Type: Full-time / Part-time / Commission-based
Reports to: Agency Owner / Insurance Agency Manager

Job Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Licensed Insurance Agent to join our dynamic team in the Metro Detroit Area . The ideal candidate will possess a passion for helping people protect their assets and plan for the future. As a Licensed Insurance Agent, you will be responsible for offering a range of personal insurance products, including auto, home, renters, and life insurance , while building lasting relationships with clients in the Metro Detroit market. Key Responsibilities:

Sales & Business Development:

  • Generate New Business: Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of prospects through networking, referrals, cold calling, and lead generation.
  • Assess Client Needs: Conduct thorough insurance reviews to understand clients’ needs and provide personalized coverage solutions.
  • Sell Insurance Products: Present, explain, and sell auto, home, renters, and life insurance policies to individuals, families, and small businesses.
  • Cross-sell and Upsell: Identify opportunities to expand coverage for clients and enhance their protection with additional policies (e.g., life insurance, renters insurance, umbrella policies).
  • Achieve Sales Goals: Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets, including new business acquisition and policy retention goals.

Customer Service & Retention:

  • Client Relationship Management: Provide exceptional customer service by maintaining strong relationships with clients and offering ongoing support with policy updates, billing inquiries, claims, and renewals.


Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A college degree in business, finance, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Experience:

  • 1–2 years of experience in sales, customer service, or insurance is preferred.
  • Experience in the insurance industry is a plus but not required.
  • Proven success in meeting sales targets and working in a commission-based environment is highly desirable.
  • Valid Michigan Property & Casualty Insurance License.
  • Valid Michigan Life Insurance License.

Skills:

  • Strong sales skills with the ability to close deals and meet/exceed sales goals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to assess client needs and recommend appropriate insurance solutions.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients, leads, and tasks efficiently.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of handling complex policy details accurately.

Technology:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with CRM software or other agency management tools.
  • Comfort with technology and a willingness to learn new tools to improve efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish, are a plus.
  • Previous experience in insurance sales , particularly in auto, home, renters, or life insurance.
  • CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) or CISR (Certified Insurance Service Representative) designation is a plus.
  • Real estate, financial planning, or related fields experience can also be beneficial.


Compensation:

  • Base Salary + Commission: Competitive base salary, plus performance-based commissions.
  • Commission based on sales performance (policies sold, premiums written, etc.).
  • Bonuses for meeting specific sales and client retention targets.

  • Schedule:
  • Full-time or part-time availability.
  • Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM . Evening and weekend hours may be required for client meetings or special events.
