Job Description – Truck Driver
Purpose of the Position
To conduct the movement of freight safety, timely, efficiently, and professionally within the time frame allotted. Deliveries will vary from short distances to being away a couple days at a time.
Major Responsibilities
1) Interstate truck driving CDL A
2) Safely delivering loads at the specified delivery time – may include Saturday, Sunday and evening deliveries.
3) Compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, local speed and traffic laws
4) Treating customers, fellow employees & other motorists with courtesy, respect and professionalism.
5) Communication with Central Dispatch and Terminal Managers for loading and also with any problems that you may incur. Each working day a check-in call is expected when you get loaded, when you get empty or 11am if not working that day. When late on a delivery a call to dispatch is expected at 7am. It is unnecessary to call in on Saturday, Sunday or holidays unless told to do so by dispatch.
6) Must work outdoors in all weather .
7) Maintaining driver log book based on 8 day, 70 hour workweek.
8) Pre/Ongoing/Post-trip inspections as required and as necessary.
9) Loading & Unloading, Strapping & Un-strapping, Tarping & Un-tarping of freight.
10) Inventorying of freight at receivers to validate bill of lading, getting required signature accepting goods.
11) Timely transmitting of data via PeopleNet or other means as necessary.
12) Timely filling-out and turning-in necessary paperwork to the terminal for billing and payroll.
