CTPSE has two exciting opportunities to become an Armed Surveillance Officer on one of our surveillance teams. In this role, you will undertake both armed and unarmed covert, mobile, technical and foot surveillance in order to obtain intelligence and evidence, undertaking covert surveillance as authorised under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 and Human Rights legislation. You will also debrief covert surveillance operations on a daily basis ensuring evidential logs are accurate.

We are welcoming applications from current Authorised Firearms Officers (with a valid Advanced Driving Qualification). Whilst desirable, no current or previous surveillance qualification is required as full training will be provided – please see the full job description for more information.

The selected candidates will be required to successfully undertake training in level 1 (Q1) foot and mobile surveillance, Log Keeping and Armed Surveillance unless already deemed suitably qualified. Whilst full support will be provided, candidates who are unsuccessful in achieving the required accreditation will be subject to redeployment as per Thames Valley Police procedures.

Applications are actively encouraged from current Operational Firearms Commanders, although this is not an essential criteria.
